Lech Trzcionkowski

Lech Trzcionkowski is a historian of religions and professor at the Institute of Religious Studies, Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He holds a PhD in History, and a Habilitation in Classics. His research focuses on ancient religions, ritual terminology, and theoretical problems related to philological and historical methods in the study of religion. His publications include Bios – Thanatos – Bios. Semiofory orfickie z Olbii i kultura polis (2013) [Bios – Thanatos – Bios. Orphic Semiophores from Olbia and the Polis Culture]. He is participating in several international projects. He currently works on the sacralisation of texts in Late Antiquity. He is also considering possibily of a new paradigm in the study of religion adopting the engaged and activist approaches. In the years 2016-2020, he was the Head of the Institute of Religious Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
